- John Boy Walton first inspired me to become a writer.
- Census records prove I am kin to Edward R. Murrow through marriage. He was the nation’s first TV journalist who set the standard all journalists strive to uphold. I was raised two miles from the Murrow birth place. Like Murrow, my dad grew up on Polecat Creek. Right now, the Varner tree connects to the Murrow tree through ERW’s grandmother, Virginia Roella Coltrane. My great, great grandparents are buried next to the Murrows at Centre Friends Meeting near the creek. The search continues to find a blood/DNA connection. I’m certain one’s there.
- My younger brother Kevin was an Elvis impersonator as a child. Hand to God. Had the bedazzled cape and everything. (pictures and video to come)
- I hand craft and paint unique Christmas ornaments for my family and friends each year.
